Patients & Visitors Information
The Library for Healing

"My father just had a stroke. What does that mean?"

"I have to have knee surgery. Are there any other options?"

"My husband is very ill. Where can I find some comforting words? What can I do to help when he comes home?"

"My child doesn't understand that his grandfather just died. How can I explain it to him?"

people doing research at the Library for Healing Visitors and patients at Baptist Medical Center can find answers to these questions and many more at the Library for Healing, located in the main corridor of the medical center's first floor, near the Tower elevators and Surgical Waiting. The library has been designed with the knowledge that information can be a powerful tool to help people cope with illness or the hospitalization of a loved one. It offers a range of materials to help people learn more about their health concerns, including hundreds of books, magazines, CDs and tapes. The library offers:

  • Computers with Internet access to help people find useful medical knowledge and suggested health web sites or to send email
  • A photocopier.
  • Music CDs, books on tape and CD, and players that may be taken on loan to patients' rooms.
  • The Talking Books program through the Jacksonville Public Library.
Donations to support the library's collections and future improvements are welcome. For information on making a donation, call the Baptist Health Foundation at 904.202.2919.
